THE BOURNE DISCUSSION
Pretty fascinating discussion on the science behind The Bourne Trilogy tonight at the MoMA (of all places). The panel included Bourne director/producer Doug Liman, screenwriter (and frequent Ang Lee collaborator) James Schamus, and neuroscientist Giulio Tononi (dude is insanely smart).
The event was part of the first annual World Science Festival in NYC.
What's interesting is that the type of amnesia experienced by Jason Bourne in the film isn't fiction. It happens in very rare cases, as illustrated by Dr. Tononi's amazing PPT presentation.
In case you're wondering why a science event is taking place at MoMA, it coincides with the museum's recent acquisition of The Bourne Trilogy for its Film Library, which houses an eclectic mix of over 20,000 films. I'd have to agree. The Bourne series is a work of art. Bravo.
