INSPIRATION: PASS IT ON

In New York City, you see your fair share of ads -- on buses, billboards, and even coffee cups. Recently I noticed a series of ads with the tagline "Pass It On" popping up all over the city. I even spotted one at Newark airport last week while waiting to pass security. From what I could tell at the time, the ads feature celebrities and individuals with inspiring stories and messages.

But like most New Yorkers, I rarely ever stop to look at ads on the street. Who has time? That was until this morning, when I spotted a "Pass It On" ad featuring Rick and Dick Hoyt, the father and son team that has completed 65 marathons and over 200 triathlons (six of them were Ironman).

That was enough to pique my interest and get me to check out the site forbetterlife.org. It turns out the campaign comes from a non-profit organization called The Foundation for a Better Life. Its sole purpose is to encourage individuals to incorporate such values as courage, devotion, and perseverance into their daily lives. Nothing more. Pretty cool.

Pass it on.

Fun Fact: The Foundation is privately funded by businessman Philip Anschutz who also owns the LA Galaxy soccer team (and brought David Beckham to the US), two film companies that produced Ray and The Chronicles of Narnia, and the Regal Entertainment Group, the largest movie theatre chain in the US.
